About Dance with Me

Ryan [Tedder] was already working on this and mentioned Thomas Rhett was on it. I was like, “I know that guy! He’s a country guy.” But it was a pop record. Right there, I felt like it fit in with what I was doing. Eventually, Ron Perry at Columbia said we needed a feature on it, and Young Thug was the most random one we could think of. And he got it done. It’s the weirdest record, but it’s also the most commercial, and that’s on purpose. I was trying to make a statement about who’s allowed to do what. Because even Thomas Rhett’s team was like, “We don’t know about Young Thug.” They didn’t really get it. They’re used to taking things slowly and making all the right decisions for their careers. But I said, “Just trust me to get the vocal done. I’ll make sure it’s great.” I remember Thomas still didn’t know who Young Thug was, and he didn’t understand any of the words, but he liked it. So he played it for his dad or father-in-law, and they were like, “I love this. I don’t know what he says either, but I love the energy.” And that helped Thomas sign off.

Diplo releases his take on a country album, which features this song with Thomas Rhett and Young Thug. Young Thug has been known to break boundaries as one of the defining artists of the last decade. He will go down in the history books as one of the most versatile artists in hip-hop, adapting to trends and creating them alike. One of his best projects to date is Beautiful Thugger Girls, which some would describe as his own take on country music. Now, he's helping Diplo explore his own roots in the genre.

One of the most popular producers of our time, Diplo has released a new album titled Snake Oil, which is somewhat of a mix between country, electronic, and pop music. The indescribable blend is undeniably fun, and we're highlighting "Dance With Me," which features Young Thug and country star Thomas Rhett.

Thomas Wesley Pentz (born November 10, 1978),[2] known professionally as Diplo, is an American DJ, songwriter, and record producer based in Los Angeles, California. He is the co-creator and lead member of the electronic dancehall music project Major Lazer, a member of the supergroup LSD with Sia and Labrinth, a member of electronic duo Jack Ü with producer and DJ Skrillex, and a member of Silk City with Mark Ronson. He founded and manages record company Mad Decent, as well as co-founding the non-profit organization Heaps Decent. Among other jobs, he has worked as an English teacher in Japan[3] and a school teacher in Philadelphia. His 2013 EP, Revolution, debuted at number 68 on the US Billboard 200. The EP's title track was later featured in a commercial for Hyundai and is featured on the WWE 2K16 soundtrack.

During his rise to fame, Diplo worked with British musician M.I.A., an artist who is credited with giving him exposure in his early career. Later, he and fellow M.I.A. producer Switch created a Jamaican dancehall project and cartoon series titled Major Lazer. Since then, Diplo has worked on production and mixtape projects with many other pop artists, such as Gwen Stefani, Die Antwoord, Britney Spears, Madonna, Shakira, Beyoncé, Ellie Goulding, No Doubt, Justin Bieber, Usher, Snoop Dogg, Trippie Redd, Chris Brown, CL, G-Dragon, Bad Bunny, MØ and Poppy. His alias, short for Diplodocus, derives from his childhood fascination with dinosaurs.
