About On a Roll

"On a Roll" is a song by American singer-songwriter Miley Cyrus, performing under the moniker "Ashley O". The song was featured in the third and final episode of science fiction television series Black Mirror, "Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too". The episode originally aired on June 5, 2019, and the song was later distributed as a single on June 14, 2019, by RCA Records and The Null Corporation. The track interpolates elements of the song "Head Like a Hole" by American rock band Nine Inch Nails, from their debut studio album Pretty Hate Machine (1989). Therefore, "On a Roll" credits Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor as the songwriter, and was produced by production trio The Invisible Men. The B-side for the song is a cover of the Nine Inch Nails song "Right Where It Belongs", from their fourth album With Teeth (2005). Reznor reportedly approved of the adaptations, and additionally released Black Mirror-themed merchandise to coincide with the episode's airing.

"Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too" is the third and final episode in series five of anthology series Black Mirror. Written by showrunner Charlie Brooker and directed by Anne Sewitsky, the episode first aired on Netflix on 5 June 2019, along with the rest of series five.

The episode has received mixed reviews from critics, who praised Cyrus's performance but criticized the plot and pacing.
