About Eastside

Benjamin Joseph Levin (born March 8, 1988), known professionally as Benny Blanco (stylised as benny blanco), is an American record producer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and recipient of the 2013 Hal David Starlight Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame. He is also a five-time BMI Songwriter of the Year award winner and 2017 iHeartRadio Producer of the Year award winner. As a producer and songwriter, Blanco is responsible for more than 100 million album sales worldwide due to his work with artists including Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Maroon 5, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Kesha, Sia, The Weeknd, Selena Gomez, Wiz Khalifa, and Kanye West. He is also the founder of two labels in collaboration with Interscope Records, Mad Love Records and Friends Keep Secrets. Blanco, a Jewish native of Virginia, began by producing hip-hop instrumentals in his bedroom and recording his own vocals on top of them. His first serious exposure to music came in 1994 when he was 5 years old with Nas' "The World Is Yours" and All-4-One's "I Swear" on cassette tapes, which heavily influenced his early productions. After early experiments with beat making and recording himself on his boombox, Blanco's rapping earned the attention of The Source and executives at Columbia Records.

Ashley Nicolette Frangipane born September 29, 1994),[2] known professionally as Halsey, is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. Her stage name is a reference to the Halsey Street station of the New York City Subway in Brooklyn, and an anagram of her first name. Frangipane was born in Edison, New Jersey. She is the daughter of Nicole, who works for security in a hospital, and Chris, who manages a car dealership. Halsey has two younger brothers, Sevian and Dante. Her father is African American with some Irish ancestry, and her mother is of Italian and Hungarian descent. Growing up, Halsey played the violin, viola, and cello, until moving on to the acoustic guitar when she was fourteen years old. In 2012, Frangipane graduated from Warren Hills Regional High School in Washington, New Jersey. She enrolled at the Rhode Island School of Design. However, she withdrew due to financial hardships and attended community college instead. She eventually dropped out of community college. During 2012, Frangipane began posting videos to social media sites such as Tumblr and YouTube, including a parody of Taylor Swift's song "I Knew You Were Trouble" (2012) inspired by Swift's relationship with Harry Styles. She began using recreational drugs at the age of seventeen, claiming she was an "unconventional child" in part due to her bipolar disorder. Frangipane began living in a basement with a number of her friends, who she described as "degenerate stoners". Music became her "confessional approach" and a form of therapy. She played numerous acoustic shows in different cities under various stage names. She chose "Halsey" as her moniker because it is an anagram of her real name as well as a street in Brooklyn where she spent a lot of time as a teenager. Frangipane eventually went to live with her grandmother for a period of time. Having written poems for years, she began writing songs as a means of bringing awareness to her poems. She eventually went to a party and met a producer who asked her to collaborate on a song with him. The result, a song about her ex-boyfriend titled "Ghost", was posted by Halsey on SoundCloud several weeks after it was recorded. Within hours, the song gained online popularity, and she was subsequently contacted by several record labels. She ultimately signed with Astralwerks.
