About Give It Up For Christmas

The Lutras are a 4 piece band that originally started in 2013. They returned in March 2016 with a new drummer and went on to record their debut EP, ‘Those Were The Days’, a few months later with Dave Miller. They went on to perform some high profile gigs including YouthBeatz in Dumfries, at the Brickyard in Carlisle, Electric Circus in Edinburgh and the Merchant City Festival in Glasgow. To date, they have played over 250 live gigs. Most recently, performances have included Belladrum Festival, Electric Fields as well as gigs in Manchester and Glasgow. They released their debut single ‘Run & Hide’ on the 22nd of November 2018 and were featured as one of Small Town Sounds’ Highlights of 2018.

The group, composed of Ben Clements (vocals and guitar), Danny Heron (bass), Thomas Gillan (guitar) and Finlay Maxwell (drums), connected over a common influence of 60’s/70’s rock. This influence, as well as other pop influences like The Faces, Eagles, and Paulo Nutini, is evident in their music style.

The Lutras have toured across the UK for more than two years, building a strong fanbase. Their sold out shows like the one in their hometown Dumfries, Scotland, and the support slot with Vida at Liquid Rooms, Edinburgh, prove their great success. Regarding the new single, “Fight Night” is an electric and vibrant song, which features indie rock vibes, powerful vocals and amazing guitar solos. This single is about the working class youth, who stays out all night, drinks too much and gets into situations that could have been avoided. Bruce Rintoul, who had previously collaborated with Twin Atlantic and Fatherson, produced the song.
